About the Author
Padre Pio (1887-1968) was born Francesco Forgione, lived most of his life as a Fransiscan Capuchin friar in Italy, and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002. He became famous for his piety, for his counsel to pilgrims, and for the stigmata visible in his hands. He is widely recognized as the most venerated Catholic saint of the last century. Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, the editor of this volume, is a Fransican Capuchin priest and a retired Professor of the History of Ancient Christianity at the Catholic University of Milan. I have to say after reading this book I had no idea that Padre Pio was so intensely devoted to Jesus. He is very "real" and "raw" but deeply spiritual. He was a special soul with healing miracles and I have a deep interest in him and faith in him.
This man was one of the main reason's my husband had a major spiritual enlightenment. Such a holy man was Padre Pio and what a beautiful soul.
I was first interested in reading his book because of his receiving the stigmata. I soon found out that he has a lot to say about all kinds of things in this world that you and me are grappling with every day of our lives. I highly recommend this and all of his writings.
