We have always enjoyed the TV show, and the book is no exception. If you've never seen the show, the format is that the number of questions a contestant receives depends on how long the cab ride is, & the questions are of increasing difficulty (& worth more $$). Each chapter in the book is set up the same, telling you where in NYC you're being picked up & dropped off. This is a true Question & Answer book....not just a collection of trivia tidbits.....and the answers are at the end of each chapter (which means on a Kindle, there's no awkward hunting for the Answer section). This has been our go-to lots-of-fun time-passer for road trips....that is, until we finished it. We wish there were more!!
At first I was a little confused after I got it and then a few minutes later, I figured the book out before returning it and giving it to me brother for Christmas. After I gave it to my brother for Christmas, we had a little family fun with it too, so everyone enjoyed it. ðŸ˜
The book was used & a few years old, but it was interesting. I enjoy purchasing used books in VG condition for much reduced prices. This book was even better than the description & was received promptly. They are a good source of used books to be as described.
Hooray, another great trivia show spin-off in book form! I've seen a few Cash Cab episodes to see how the game works but if you haven't, don't worry, reading the beginning of the book is enough to understand the game play.There are 30 games (or episodes) in this book; the amount of questions in each game depends on how far the cab is going. For example "Carnegie Hall to 84th and Columbus Avenue" which covers 28 blocks will be a lot shorter than "Grand Central Station to 106th and Third Avenue" which covers 65 blocks.In each game, you get a few questions that are worth $50 each, then $100 and then $200. Tally up for score and try the Double or Nothing question at the end of each game. Get three questions wrong and the game is over, but who's counting? You enjoy your trivia in anyway you like. There are listing-type questions dubbed "Red Light Challenge" sprinkled along each game. The answers are found, upside-down, at the end of each game.In general, the questions aren't too demanding as other hardcore trivia books, but I find them very well written. There are no multiple choices. Here are a few examples from the first game of the book:1. A childhood rite of passage, the MMR vaccine, protects against measles, mumps and what?2. What mythological creature, finally slayed by Hercules, grew two new heads for every one that was cut off?3. Once the centre of the Khmer Empire, the Angkor Wat temple is featured on what Asian country's flag?Answers: 1. Rubella, 2. Hydra, 3. Cambodia.
Decent questions- just hate answers are upside down
I love the Cash Cab and the questions in the book are great, but it is poorly designed for a kindle reader. it's very difficult to go back and forth to read the questions and then see the answers to see if you were right or not. If you just read it as is, you'll forget all the questions before you get to the answers section! It needs to be laid out differently for Kindle's purposes.
I sent it to a friend who loved it. My friend is unfortunately in prison. Based on many other reviews I've read on Amazon, it appears that many trivia and puzzle books are sent to friends and family in prisons. This book was a good choice. I've sent her a few different books, and I think she likes this one among the best. She was quizzing all her bunkmates, so the book was popular not just with her but with her companions as well.
I'm BIASED as I love this show. Developed a nagging case of cancer that kept me bedridden for the better part of a year. But, Ben Bailey & company helped me through it. I got the kindle edition since the show did end. couldn't have been cancelled? right?
