Why would you write a book about symbols and have little to no illustrations? I was so disappointed because the writing is decent, but by the third time I had to go to the internet to guess at the symbol being discussed, I was through.
Very, very interesting. This allowed me to write my major composition essay from a much different point of view than I originally would have. I appreciate the constant knowledge it lends even outside of school work.
I had to give it a 4 star rating not because of the lack of information but as it describe each symbol it had no picture, however it's a great book.
I have been using this for years and recently have lost track of my original hardback edition. I bought two, one for my stepson who made the comment recently that he wished he had a copy.This is so much more than one of those this is what the symbol means, this provides true semiotic description and analysis often with historical context. Excellent tool for writers and close readers or people just interested in signs and symbols.
